Recommended setup

  • To achieve the best virtual background effect, Zoom recommends using a solid color background, preferably green.
  • Higher quality cameras result in a better virtual background.
  • Use uniform lighting and color.
  • Do not wear clothing that is the same color as the virtual background.

Background image

  • Cropping the image to match the aspect ratio of your camera before uploading it.
  • Use a background image with a minimum resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels.

How to Change Your Zoom Background

1. Change your Zoom background on Computer

  1. Open Zoom app and click Settings.
  2. Select Virtual Background.
  3. Choose +Add Image.
  4. Browse the picture for your Zoom background.
  5. To remove the Zoom background, choose None.

2. Change your Zoom background on iPhone/iPad

  1. Sign in to Zoom on iPhone/iPad.
  2. Tap on the three dots on the bottom right corner to show More.
  3. Select Virtual Background.
  4. Tap + to upload a new image.
  5. Choose Close to exit.
