What is Podcast?
Podcast is a series of digital audio files where the users can listen to for free. It usually has episodes that discuss about particular topics from the light to serious topics like sports, news, politics, stories, tips, personal experiences, poem, thoughts and opinion and many more. For the speakers, it could be a monologue or an interview. In other words, it is like listening to the radio.

15 Best FREE Podcast App for Android, iOS, PC or Mac
1. Overcast Podcast
Like many regular consumers of podcasts, the recent Apple Podcast app update was a severe disappointment that sent me off on a quest to find a new player. Since then I’ve tried several different apps, but I can now say that, without a doubt, Overcast is the best free podcast app I’ve ever come across. I should have been using it from the start. While it’s organizing of episodes and shows is slightly less intuitive than the original Apple Podcast design, this minor default is more than made up for by Overcast’s excellent sound control options.
I listen to a lot of very interesting shows that have mediocre audio quality, something that always got on my nerves in the past, but with Voice Boost and Smart Speed I can now listen to these podcasts better than ever before. Couple this with a much more precise audio speed adjustment (I like to fiddle with speed constantly while I’m catching up on old episodes) and Overcast seems like it was designed with precisely my needs in mind.
So, yeah, if you are also in the wilderness following the self-sabotaging atrocity that was Apple’s iOS 11 Podcast app update, the search is over. Overcast is, and apparently always was, the best free podcast player available. Enjoy it.
2. Google Podcasts
Google always has the best products. I love the tool under every playing podcast, we can change the speed if we think too fast or too slow, and it is perfect that it’s not just only 0.25/0.75/1…, it’s 0.1/0.2/0.3….0.9/1! It’s very helpful to people who wants to practice learning. Another perfect tool is that we can set a timer to stop the podcast. But I suggest Google to create a place for us to make a playlist, or I have to choose another podcast every time the former one ends.
Works like a charm. I find it easy to use and it is helping me explore the podcase world. I’m thrilled with Podbean. I have diverse interest. Therefore, I listen to podcasts which focus on the arts, sports, social and political analysis, theology and Biblical studies. I’ve been using Podbean for several months and, so far, have found availability of every podcast I’ve searched for.
Thanks to all who have developed and support this great app. The only annoyance is when I try to have it show unplayed episodes, it shows the most recent uploads, instead of removing the episodes that clearly marked “played” from the list.
4. Free Podcast Download Player – Audio Books & Music
It is certainly a noteworthy podcast player without spyware, (as some other p/cast-player-apps; logging your ID, contact-list, phone-calls, etc.). It works very well, but deserves improvement: Strangely, alas it shows not any podcast-description-details or details for each pod cast episode; & I am looking forward to see this standard-feature implemented in the next update to this app. If so; I will be willing to pay a fair price for this app (which is presently advert-supported). Thank you.
5. Podcast Player & Podcast App – Castbox
Very good! Very easy to use. Definitely recommend! I downloaded this app to listen to a specific podcast and have had no issue with finding it. My only issue; However, is that the app downloads podcast episodes, that I’ve never listened to, without my knowledge. I usually delete them as they come up but now all of the podcasts are appearing on my Amazon Music app. Which means I have to double delete everything.
6. Podcast Player
Enjoy this app. Broad selection of podcasts to choose from. App interface is sometimes less than smooth to use, and things that seem intuitive, like playing the next episode don’t always happen. Occasionally, the previous episode will auto play. Seems to be related to how the podcasts are uploaded. All in all, it’s a small annoyance for a great free product.
Anchor helped me get my podcast on many of the biggest sites for podcasts that I never actually thought was possible. They help you in every way possible, even with giving you tools to help record! Anchor is trying a remarkable app. I recommend it to friends every chance I get! The ease with which you can record, edit, and publish to more platforms than i can name is astounding. Apart from a few glitches here and there, the all is still there best I’ve ever seen. Constant updates make it constantly improve.

I have been using spotify for a long time and it is a really great app for leisure. However, when I play this music (specifically fake love and crown), the song stops at an exact time. And it only plays when I turn on the internet. Sometimes it stops and continues but at a higher volume even if my phone is at the same volume as before. Please fix this because spotify is an app I use a lot and it’s really great so I hope for an update for this.
9. Podcast Addict
The developers have done a great job of providing a stable, intuitive app that is far superior to any other I have tried. The functionality is amazing, you can tweak a multitude of settings to suit your preferences, or you can just subscribe and play if you prefer to keep it simple. Very highly recommended. Clear UI with plenty if options for downloading, organizing and listening to your subscriptions.
Biggest feature complaint is the way custom playlists were implemented though it does the job in a fashion; just not how I prefer. There is an issue with new episodes getting added to my custom playlist that may have me on the search again, sadly, but I’ve contacted support and they were very quick to respond! So I’m REALLY REALLY hoping this gets fixed or they can tell me what settings I have wrong.
10. LearnEnglish Podcasts
It is very useful application. I am studying English speaking by listening repeatedly with this app. It is essential app for English learners. I felt it a good application to learn English. Even if some there is some problem like it go back automatically while lessening audios in some cases, but i found it a good and very interesting application.
By using this apps, I’m satisfy really. Before this, I’m not good in listening and reading skills, it’ s so far away now I think approximately. I love this app that is the best practice for me. I really meet everyday to improve my English level in all four skills. Sounds in there are so quick and I have to try to understand it immediately. It shows me that I should contact it everyday due to my lowest English status.
11. Podcast App: Free & Offline Podcasts by Player FM
Best app for listening and managing all the podcasts I listen too. It was hard to keep track before and I didn’t like other podcast apps out there. The only thing I’m not a fan of is when u listen to a podcast full screen, it keeps your screen on and can burn the play button image into your phone.
It has an intuitive interface, plenty of options for adding any feed from any source I’ve found, and the play later option makes it very easy to add episodes outside of the standard WiFi download settings to keep or download single episodes. Add to that all the playback options for when listening to podcasts, theme support (I especially like the almost all black theme option), and no ads.
12. Podcast Go
This is a real podcast app. It isn’t just a feature on another type of app that lets you check podcasts. This app specializes in podcasts, so it can do it professionally. There are podcast apps. I like the design of this one, and would recommend it to someone as being a good choice of one! This app does what it supposed too!
13. Podcast Republic – Podcast Player & Radio App
This was the highest recommended app I found for podcast listening, and at this point it’s the only one I can see myself being able to use. It’s user friendly and works exactly how it needs to! The only small gripe I have is super specific – using the button on my headphones sometimes doesn’t affect any playback until I pull my phone out of my pocket, as far as I can see, uncovering the sensor next to the earpiece seems to allow it to work. Otherwise, amazing app, can’t recommend enough!
14. The Podcast App
This podcast app is free and has a no nonsense approach to listening to podcasts on the go, look for your podcast, favorite them, download them to device and boom, no download speed throttling, no queue limit, and works perfectly. HOWEVER I am desperately missing a function to show only downloaded episodes, some lists take 52 seconds to scroll through to get at the bottom.
15. Podcast App: Free & Offline Podcasts by Himalaya
The interface is clean and straightforward. Every podcast I’ve searched has been available. Really enjoying this one. I love that you can add likes and comment on episodes. it makes it feel more like a community. It would be ideal if there were a way to organize your followed podcasts in your library. Maybe it’s possible to do that already, but I haven’t been able to figure it out. It would also be nice if we could specify in settings to open the app on the library portion rather than the explore portion.
